Critics are screaming “off with their heads” at Britain’s Royal Mint for renderings of Kate Middleton and Prince William on a commemorative wedding coin. Some observers charge that it makes the queen-to-be look “plump,” and has her royal fiancé sporting “Elvis” hair.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s Great Royal Wedding

Before there was Kate Middleton and Prince William or Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles, there was Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

The British monarch and her husband of more than 60 years, sweethearts since their teens, married in a state ceremony before over 2,000 guests at Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947.

Kate Middleton Wears Issa for Engagement Announcement

Queen-to-be Kate Middleton stepped out for her Nov. 16 engagement announcement in a figure-flattering electric-blue jersey dress that immediately had royal watchers and StyleList readers asking, “Who made it?”

The answer may be the first hint of Middleton’s lady-in-waiting for the role of royal wedding dressmaker: London-based designer Daniella Issa Helayel.
